Outspoken Chinese tycoon and CPPCC member Ren Zhiqiang has been placed on a year's probation for remarks that ran counter to major Communist Party policies. In a notice issued on May 2, 2016, the Party Committee of Beijing’s Xicheng district said that Ren Zhiqiang, the former head of Hua Yuan Property, had been placed on probation for seriously violating political discipline.
