The state-run Global Times on May 22, 2017, reacted to a New York Times article that said the Chinese authorities had apprehended a number of spies working for the US and killed ten CIA officers between 2010-2012. Saying that though widely quoted the authenticity of the New York Times article is unknown, it said if true then the action by the Chinese authorities is laudable. The article said, in conclusion, " when the US media is keen on hyping up "catching Chinese spies," they should forego their moral narcissism when reporting CIA espionage in China. It's absurd that under their description, the US is always the noble side whether it is catching spies or sending spies".
