USA's Princeton University Press announced the opening of its China office in Beijing on August 15, 2017, describing it as the first such presence for a U.S. university press. It justified the decision on the ground of China's growing investment in higher education and scholarly research and its increasing centrality in the world of ideas and the world itself.
