Xinhua on August 31, 2017, reported that the Politburo had announced that the the 7th Plenum of the 18th Party Congress would be held on October 17 and the 19th Party Congress would open on the 18th October 2017. Meanwhile, Caixin Global reported that the number of National Congress delegates will be 30 more than the previous term.
(Comment: The CCP CC’s Organisation Department said late last year that the additional quota will be used to better represent party members from the “front line,” or the grass-roots occupations like workers, farmers, and specialists of various trades.)
