CHINA-19TH PARTY CONGRESS: CHINA'S NEW LEADERSHIP LINE-UP (IN RANK ORDER)
Clearly confirming Xi Jinping's loaded assurance in his Work Report to the 19th Party Congress on October 18 -- and repeated in the Communique and explanatory documents released later -- that the campaign against corruption would continue with equal vigour, the first announcement of a portfolio for a PBSC Member was that of 60-year old Zhao Leji, as head of the Central Discipline Inspection commission (CDIC). He replaces Wang Qishan, who has retired. It was also announced that 63-year old Han Zheng, till now Politburo (PB) member and Shanghai Party Secretary will be the Executive Vice Premier. Wang Huning, 62, the top party theorist and Director of the Central Policy Research Office, will replace Liu Yunshan as in charge of ideology, the propaganda apparatus and Party organisation.
