The Chinese appointed Panchen Lama Gyaltsen Norbu, inaugurated the seventh Annual Seminar on Tibetan Buddhist Doctrine Interpretation at Tibetan Buddhism College of China in Beijing on November 06, 2017. In his keynote speech, the Chinese appointed Panchen Lama recalled a meeting that he had with Xi Jinping on June 10, 2015 whereby the General Secretary pointed out the “need to actively engage in the interpretation of Tibetan Buddhist doctrine, carrying forward the positive spirits in Tibetan Buddhism, such as propagating the good and repress the bad, equality and tolerance, and helping the poor and people in need” The Panchen Lama reportedly told the participants of 200 people encompassing of “Scholars Han Buddhist monasteries, religious research institutions, representatives from Buddhist Institutes and monasteries" from Tibet and Tibetan areas of Qinghai, Gansu, Sichuan and Yunnan Province that the Buddhist monks should carry Buddhist traditions of patriotism and uphold national ethnic unity.
