Unconfirmed reports sourced to Taiwan claim that Ms Hua Chunying, Deputy Director and spokesman for the Information Department of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs(MFA), who has been well known for her style and eloquence has reportedly been found with US$ 5 million in her possession by police prosecutors at her residence. She was reported to have been preparing information on immigration to the United States and for production in the United States. She is being investigated for the crime of subversion of state power. The news has, however, not been confirmed. 

Hua Chunying also appeared at the routine MFA press briefing on March 2.
