On March 15, 2018 Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in an article captioned Unswervingly taking the path of peaceful development and promoting the establishment of a community of human destiny said China "will surely maintain and develop socialism with Chinese characteristics for the new era and realize "the goal of struggle and the Chinese dream of a great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation" which provide a strong constitutional guarantee of "great practical significance and far-reaching historical significance". He also wrote that "Consolidating the path of adhering to peaceful development into the Constitution reflects China’s firm determination to strive for a different development path from that of a traditional power.... It clearly stated that China will always adhere to the path of peaceful development and stressed that China will never take the old road of reliance on aggression and expansion to achieve its rise in history. It is firmly committed to exploring a new way to achieve national development and national rejuvenation in a peaceful manner. Adhering to the road of peaceful development is not only written in the report of the 17th CPC National Congress, the 18th CPC Congress, and the 19th CPC National Congress, but also included the CPC Constitution."
