Shugden Follower's Protest during H H the Dalai Lama's visit to San Francisco

On Saturday, Feb 22, 2014,  dozens of Buddhists monks and nuns staged a rally on the streets of San Francisco to  protest against the Dalai Lama for, what they claim, is persecution of followers of the 300-year old Shugden Deity. The demonstrators gathered across the street from a building where the Dalai Lama was scheduled to launch the first of a series of speaking events in a tour of U.S. cities. The Dalai Lama, who met US President Barack Obama at the White House on Feb 21, is scheduled to stay in the United States for another two weeks.

[COMMENTS: The demonstration by Shugden worshippers prompted the Dalai Lama, during the talk organised at the Davies Symphony Hall on Feb. 22, by the American Himalayan Foundation and the Blum Center for Developing Economics in San Francisco, to depart from his prepared text.]
