CHINA--MILITARY:PLAN

According to a report in the official 'Global Times' of April 10, 2014, at least two out of four Zubr-class air-cushioned landing craft, with max. speeds of approx 63 knots or 111 kilometers per hour, are ready to be commissioned by the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN). 

The Zubr Class vessels were purchased from Ukraine, with which China signed a contract worth US$315 million in 1999. Two of the vessels were built by Feodosiya Shipbuilding Company in Ukraine, while  construction of the other two Zubr-class will be completed in China. They are intended to replace the Class 072 landing Craft. .

Reports claim that at least two of the Zubr Class vessels are ready for combat in the East or South China Sea. The Guangdong-based Shenzhen Satellite TV said the Zubr-class landing craft is capable of carrying three battle tanks or ten armored vehicles with 140 troops. Without any vehicles, it can carry 500 troops.
