The PLA Daily on April 18 gave prominent coverage in a 2-page spread to pledges of fealty to Xi Jinping by 17 more PLA Generals. This followed week-long 'study sessions' for them where the need for the PLA being 'absolutely' subordinate and obedient to the CCP was emphasized together with the importance of Xi Jinping's programme for military reforms and modernisation.

So far 35 PLA Generals have pledged loyalty to Xi Jinping. Some analysts interpret this as indicative of resistance to Xi Jinping's anti-corruption campaign in the PLA.
