The anti-corruption campaign's targeting of the CCP's International Communications Office's Fifth Bureau, also called the State Information Office, has been made public with the disclosure by the Central Discipline Inspection Commission (CDIC) that the Deputy Director of the Fifth Bureau, Gao Jianyun, is being investigated for "serious disciplinary violations". A few weeks ago the Director of the Bureau, 56-year old Li Wufeng committed suicide by jumping off the 6th floor of the office building. Last week Shen Weichen, Director of the Bureau from 2010-2013 was detained.

The Fifth Bureau is responsible for regulating the Internet and enlarging the government/Party's presence on the web.
