CHINA- TIBET: ANTI-CORRUPTION CAMPAIGN

In comments posted on the CDIC website, TAR Party Secretary Chen Quanguo  of the party's graft-busting Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, asserted that "Tibet's lack of oxygen and position at the frontline of fighting separatism did not mean it ignored the battle against corruption". He said everyone in Tibet had "rallied round" President Xi Jinping's anti-graft campaign. The TAR Party Secretary said special effort was being focussed upon "officials who have an incorrect view on minority people's (issues) and profess no religious belief but secretly believe." He also cautioned that the Party would go after officials who follow the Dalai Lama, go on pilgrimages to worship him, listen to religious sermons or send their children to schools organised by followers of the Dalai Lama. So far 15 senior Tibetan Party officials have been found guilty of corruption and punished them. This included those probed on suspicion of joining groups supporting Tibetan independence.
