The two pro-Beijing newspapers in Hongkong, Wen Wei Po and Ta Kung Pao announced on February 2, 2016, that they will pool their editorial and technical resources.  Both, the Wen Wei Po and the Ta Kung Pao will, however, continue to publish their own newspapers in Hong Kong. Current Ta Kung Pao Chairman Jiang Zaizhong, formerly of Xinhua and who has served in the Xinhua Bureau in Inner Mongolia and was posted to Hongkong in 2008, will lead the newly formed Hong Kong Ta Kung Wen Wei Media Group. Both newspapers are administered by propaganda officials at Beijing's central government liaison office in Hong Kong.
