US wants China's cooperation in military

US Army Chief of Staff General Raymond Odierno met his Chinese counterpart PLA Lt General Wang Ning in Beijing on Feb 21, 2014 when he said both countries have "incredibly professional armies" and common objectives and should boost cooperation between their two militaries. Lt General Wang Ning said China "sincerely" hoped for more substantial relations with the US military through 'practical' cooperation. The two will also discuss international and regional security issues. On 22 Feb General Odierno will visit the Shenyang Military Region.
The meeting takes place hours before US President Obama's scheduled 'private' meeting with the Dalai Lama which has evoked a strong protest from China.
