CHINA-FRANCE: POLICE COOPERATION

Economic considerations have raised the strange possibility of Chinese police (Public Security Bureau) personnel assisting their French counterparts to help patrol Paris during the peak summer tourist season. Plans proposed by the French Interior Ministry envisage deployment of Chinese policemen at key French landmarks to prevent the nearly 1 million Chinese tourists, who spend an average of €1,300 during their holidays and carry large amounts of cash, from becoming victims of pickpockets and muggers.
