Power Company Official 'Is Target of Investigation'

The director and Communist Party boss of a branch of the country's largest distributor of electricity is the subject of an investigation. Zhu Changlin, who became director and party chief of the north branch of State Grid Corp. last year in 2013, was being investigated, the sources said on May 6, 2014. It was unclear what the inquiry is about or who is performing it.

Zhu, 54, is also a member of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. He promoted building ultra-high voltage transmission lines during a meeting of the country's highest political advisory body in March.

Zhu was general manager of the Sichuan Electric Power Corp. from 2002 to 2009. Industry sources said that during that time came in contact with two officials in the southwestern province – Li Chuncheng and Guo Yongxiang – who are being investigated by the Central Discipline Inspection Commission, the party's top graft fighter.
