CHINA-RUSSIA: MILITARY EXERCISES

 

The China-Russia joint military exercise code-named “Maritime Cooperation 2014” will be conducted from May 20-26, 2014 in the areas in the north of East China Sea. More than 20 surface ships, underwater vessels and auxiliary ships will participate in the joint exercise, which is the first between the naval forces of China and Russia. Russia's Navy will send one guided missile cruiser, one guided missile destroyer, one auxiliary ship and one ocean-going tug to participate in the exercise. The task-force will go southward from the Tsushima Strait to arrive in Shanghai and the exercise will be held in the northwest sea areas of the Diaoyu Islands.  
 
The Russian military delegation has already arrived in Shanghai
 
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping will attend the opening ceremony for the naval exercise.
