Beijing Youth Daily and Beijing News reported that responding to the recent rash of violent terrorist actions across China, the Beijing public security authorities have mobilised a 100,000-strong citizen army to gather intelligence as part of the national anti-terrorism campaign. 850,000 volunteers have been mobilised to patrol the capital together with the police.

Citizens will receive 2 Yuan (HK$ 2.5) for each piece of valid information while those who report three pieces of intelligence a day will be offered 200 yuan a month.
