CHINA-SOUTH CHINA SEA: G-7

Meeting in the Belgian capital of Brussels on June 5, 2014, leaders of the Group of Seven (G-7) industrialized nations said "We are deeply concerned by tensions in the East and South China Sea." The statement, which avoided naming any country, added "We oppose any unilateral attempt by any party to assert its territorial or maritime claims through the use of intimidation, coercion or force." and asked all countries to follow international law in resolving competing claims.
