CHINA-INTERNAL: MICRO-BLOGGING SERVICE REGULATIONS
The Cyberspace Administration of China on February 2, 2018 published new regulations entitled 'Microblogging Information Service Management Regulations' to come into force from March 20, 2018. It makes service providers responsible for postings and content on microblogging sites and mandates that verification of the real identities of users and their records of usage are kept for a minimum of 6 months. Article 5 of the 16- Article Regulations state "microblogging service providers shall play an active role in promoting economic development and serving the general public by promoting the core values of socialism, disseminating advanced culture, upholding the correct orientation of public opinions, and advocating the Internet access by law and civilized access to the Internet."
