Reporting Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to the PLAN Base HQ under the PLA Northern Theatre Command at Qingdao, China Daily said he urged the PLAN to further strengthen its combat training and enhance its elite forces' capabilities. He asked the Navy to make full use of every minute to improve its combat readiness and focus on operational planning, training, hardware development and optimization of the command chain and ordered that it must tighten the intensity of training, innovate training methods and make stringent inspection of training. He said Navy units should carry out more large-scale contests on combat capability and enhance targeted and realistic training. He asked the Navy to pay attention to the building of naval aviation forces. China Central Television disclosed that Xi Jinping had boarded the Changzheng 16, a Type 093Gclass nuclear-powered attack submarine.
