CHINA-INTERNAL: PBSC MEMBER AND CPPCC CHAIRMAN WANG YANG INSPECTS TIBET AUTONOMOUS REGION (TAR)

Xinhua reported (August 26) that PBSC Member and CPPCC Chairman Wang Yang 'inspected' Tibet from August 24 to 26, 2018 and visited Changdu and Lhasa. Referring to Xi Jinping's "new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics", he urged TAR cadres to "conscientiously implement the party's strategy of managing Tibet and Tibet's working principles, and closely focus on safeguarding the motherland's reunification and strengthening national unity, and firmly grasp the improvement of people's livelihood". He focussed on the need to promote "accurate poverty alleviation and precision  poverty alleviation", ecology and the environment "accelerate the pace of building a well-off society in an all-round way", "vigorously promote national unity, strengthen and innovate temple management, deepen anti-separatist struggle, and strive to achieve Tibet's prosperity". In Changdu and Lhasa he spoke of the need to relocate to the new villages, religious sites and poverty alleviation, and "to understand Tibet's economic and social development, poverty alleviation and temple management". Affirming "the remarkable achievements of the Tibet Autonomous Region", Wang Yang emphasized that winning the war against poverty in Tibet is of great significance for improving the well-being of all ethnic groups and for consolidating national unity. He said it is necessary to strictly implement the current alleviation standards and stabilize the realization of the “two guarantees and three guarantees” for the poor, ensuring that the focus is not lost and "the bull's-eye remains unchanged".  Wang Yang emphasized that "religious work is related to Tibet's social stability and long-term stability. It must be prepared for danger and prepared for the rain. We must uphold the basic principles of the party's religious work, adhere to the direction of China's religiousization, improve the level of legalization of religious work, and promote Tibetan Buddhism to better adapt to the socialist society". He emphasised that "religious circles must firmly support the party's leadership, inherit and carry forward the fine traditions of patriotism, have a clear-cut banner in the face of big and big, and be clear-headed in the face of big winds and waves, bravely fight against the forces of splitting the country, and more effectively safeguard the unity of the motherland, national unity and social stability". Wang Yang said it is necessary to "further strengthen the training of religious talents, earnestly strengthen the construction of teaching style and internal management, strictly abide by the rules and regulations, improve religious cultivation, jointly safeguard the good image of Buddhism, and promote the healthy development of Tibetan Buddhism". Wang Yang specially visited Tibetan cadres and veteran comrades such as Pabala Glelanger, as well as members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference in Lhasa the Party, members of the autonomous region and the Lhasa CPPCC, the CPPCC organs of the autonomous region, and the staff of the United Front Work Department.
