Reacting to reports that the US is poised to impose previously announced tariffs on $200 billion worth of Chinese goods as early as september 7, Gao Feng spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) warned on September 6 that China will take necessary countermeasures to protect its own economic interests if the US imposes new tariffs on Chinese goods.
