CHINA-US: US DEPT OF JUSTICE ASKS CGTN AND XINHUA TO REGISTER AS 'FOREIGN AGENTS'

The US Justice Department ordered Xinhua News Agency and China Global Television Network—known as CGTN now and earlier as CCTV -- to register as foreign agents. The DOJ order comes as Washington and Beijing are involved in an escalating trade conflict. Xinhua, CGTN and the Chinese Embassy in Washington did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
