CHINA-INTERNAL: LEADERSHIP APPOINTMENT OF NEW JIANGXI GOVERNOR
Yi Lianhong was appointed the new Governor of Jiangxi on October 23. He has been acting governor since August. Yi Lianhong was born in 1959 in Hunan. He spent his entire career in Hunan until 2017, when he was already 58. His last six years in Hunan (2011-2017), were spent in the provincial capital of Changsha, as Secretary General of the Hunan Party Committee for 18 months and then for over four years as Party secretary of Changsha. (Comment: Just when Yi Lianhong looked destined to retire as a career Hunan politician, he was appointed Liaoning deputy Party secretary in July 2017. Later, in July 2018, he was moved to Jiangxi. He reaches retirement age in 2024, so there could be future promotions.) |
