CHINA-RELIGION: CRACKDOWN ON CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS

BBC reported on December 25, that the Chinese authorities have issued a notice prohibiting traders from using Christmas decorations and students in many Chinese universities and primary and secondary schools from discussing Christmas-related content on social media. Langfang, Hebei and other places have issued a ban on prohibiting traders from using Christmas decorations. In a document entitled "Notice on Law Enforcement Supervision during Christmas," issued by the Langfang City Management Bureau of Hebei Province, law enforcement officials were directed to completely ban the Christmas tree, Santa Claus and other items placed along the street and clean up Christmas-related items, including window stickers, cloth banners and light boxes.The document also directed law enforcement officials to remain on duty from December 23 to December 25, and “fully control and use the public areas such as the Park Plaza to carry out religious propaganda activities”. Similar prohibition was in force in Hebei Bazhou, which is not far from each other, and in Quxi, Guizhou and Ganzhou, Guangxi.
