CHINA-INTERNAL: RELIGIOUS CONTROLS AND CLOSURE OF MOSQUES
The South China Morning Post reported on December 31, that the closure of three mosques in the villages of Huihuideng, Sanjia and Mamichang in Weishan County was coordinated by the Weishan County Ethnic and Religious Affairs Committee to “protect harmony and stability in the religious domain”. An official notice published on Weibo on December 29, claimed that the mosques were illegally established and conducted “illegal religious education” outside state guidelines.
