The ban on the monasteries for taking Tibetan classes, Qinghai

The Department of the United Front Work of the CPC Nangchen County Committee and the County Ethnic and Religious Bureau issued a two-page notice on 25th December of prohibiting any initiation of Tibetan language classes or tuition during the winter vacation in and around the monastery.

The notice titled “Urgent notice concerning stopping illegal study classes in monasteries” describes informal classes run by monks as ideological infiltration among the young, “dangerous,” and “harmful.” It calls on local officials and Chinese Communist Party cadres responsible for managing monasteries to “understand the harmful nature of monasteries running open schools,” and to stop them from doing so.
