CHINA-NEPAL: NEPAL TO USE CHINESE GUAGE STANDARD FOR RAILWAY

Nikkei news quoted Nepal's Transport Minister as saying (February 22) that Nepal will use Chinese gauge standards for a planned nationwide rail network.
(Comment:This could make Nepal inescapably dependent on China on the economic and security fronts. China's standard (broad) guage is: 1,435 mm (4 ft 81⁄2 in) and the Indian Railways broad guage is: 1,676 mm (5 ft 6 in) )
