CHINA'S TAIWAN AFFAIRS OFFICE CRITICISES TSAI ING-WEN'S REMARKS AT NATIONAL SECURITY MEETING

In a statement issued on March 12, the spokesman for the PRC State Council's Taiwan Affairs Office An Fengshan accused Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen of harming relations between the sides and using the welfare of the Taiwanese people as a "poker chip" for the sake of electoral gains. He said such actions "stand in opposition to the interests and welfare of our Taiwan compatriots, and endeavor to block progress by compatriots on both sides to progress. All it is, is stretching out an arm to block a car." He was reacting to remarks by Tsai Ing-wen at a National Security meeting on March 11.
