CHINA-XINJIANG: PRC GOVERNMENT REPORT

China's approx 10,000-word White Paper released on March 18 noted that "some of the most notorious terrorist attacks" that have taken place in the world in the course of which it referred to "the Mumbai attacks on November 26, 2008 that killed 195 and injured close to 300 people in India". There was no reference to Pakistan or the Lashkar-e-Taiyeba (LeT). The report said "according to incomplete statistics, in 2018 there were 1,127 terrorist attacks globally, causing 13,000 deaths".
In a bid to justify the internment camps that China has set up in Xinjiang and where 1.5 million Uyghurs are incarcerated, China claimed in the White Paper that it has arrested nearly 13,000 people it describes as terrorists and has broken up hundreds of "terrorist gangs" in Xinjiang since 2014.
