CHINA-INTERNAL: PROPAGANDA

Global Times, an official subsidiary of the Party mouthpiece 'People's Daily' on July 9, 2014, criticised critics of the country's political system who, it said, mainly populate the internet. Conceding that the reform and opening process had expanded criticism in Chinese society, it accused "liberal intellectuals" of  ignoring the differences of political systems between China and the West and for viewing Western standards as universal.

Accusing radical liberals of "cherishing an illusion that there will be a subversive change in Chinese society, or even a collapse of the current social system", the paper asserted that they are a minority force in China under the deep influence of Western ideology whose true pursuit is not shared by China's masses.
