CHINA-LEADERSHIP: ANTI-CORRUPTION

Caixin (August 16) quoted state-owned China Central Television as reporting that Xing Yun, former Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress of Inner Mongolia,  was charged with corruption and taking bribes worth 449 million yuan ($64 million) during his 20-year bureaucratic career in Inner Mongolia. 67-year old Xing Yun pleaded guilty.

(Comment: The amount is a record sum for a provincial-level official caught up in China’s sweeping anti-graft campaign.)
