CHINA-AFRICA: ENHANCED TRADE

The Africa China Research Initiative shows that Africa’s trade deficit with China was USD 27.91 billion in 2018, as trade between the two sides rose to USD 170 billion. Likewise, the 2017 Annual Report on Oversees Study by researchers at Peking, Huaqiao and Xiamen Universities, which was released by the Social Sciences Academic Press, shows that the African continent was home to more than 1.1 million Chinese immigrants in 2012 compared with fewer than 160,000 in 1996.
