CHINA-HONGKONG: PROTESTS CONTINUE AND PROTESTORS GET NEW ANTHEM

The stand-off between the Beijing and its HKSAR government has recently got accentuated with the official China-owned 'China Daily' posting a notice on Facebook on September 10 morning warning that protestors in Hong Kong have decided on secret plans to escalate protests from September 11 with "massive" terrorist attacks including blowing up gas pipelines in Hong Kong and attacks on non-Cantonese speaking people.

Separately, also on September 10, a 21-year old poet, identified only as 'Thomas', supporting the protestors put out a new 'anthem' for Hong Kong which has gone viral attracting 700,000 views overnight. It is being spontaneously sung by crowds in public places in Hong Kong.

A day after thousands of protestors in Hong Kong marched (September 9) carrying American flags and chanting "America please take over Hong Kong", China's state-owned CGTN criticised the US for interfering in Hong Kong affairs and included comments by US academics like Michael Pillsbury.

That evening Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam in a public broadcast appealed to the people not to invoke foreign support for Hong King's problems. Interestingly, her appeal included reference to 'persons holding office'!
