CHINA-ECONOMY: CHINA RELEASES 10,000 TONS OF PORK FROM STRATEGIC RESERVE

In a notice issued on September 17, the China Merchandise Reserve Management Center (CMRMC) announced it will release 10,000 metric tons of frozen pork from its national pork reserve through auction. The 3-hour auction is to be held on September 19 and each company can purchase up to 300 tons of frozen pork. The CMRMC is likely to release more pork soon to keep prices contained in the run up to the PRC’s 70th anniversary celebration on October 1.

(Comment: CMRMC is a subsidiary of COFCO Corporation, the state-owned food processing factory.)
