Well known PLA Navy soprano singer Song Zuying, born in August 1966 and who was promoted to the rank of non-combatant Rear Admiral in 2009, is reported to be under investigation for misappropriation of funds. She was widely rumoured to have had an affair with former Party General Secretary and CMC Chairman Jiang Zemin--40 years her senior-- and benefitted from this relationship including by receiving rapid promotions. Her younger sister is Song Zuyu.
