CHINA-LEADERSHIP: XI JINPING'S VISIT TO HENAN

Xinhua (September 18) reported that during his tour of Henan province from September 16 to 18, Chinese President and CCP CC General Secretary Xi Jinping, accompanied by Secretary of the Henan Provincial Party Committee Wang Guosheng and Governor Chen Runer, visited Xinyang, Zhengzhou and other places to "deepen the revolutionary old areas, rural areas, enterprises, etc., on economic and social development" and “not forgetting the original heart. On 16th September afternoon Xi Jinping first went to the Martyrs Cemetery in the capital of the Hubei, Henan and Anhui provinces, to pay tribute to the monument to the revolutionary martyrs, the memorial hall, and to see the "Red Flag Fluttering" theme sculpture on the Hero Hill. Insisting that "we must accept the red traditional education", he said "the Revolutionary Museum, the Memorial Hall, the Party History Museum, and the Martyrs Cemetery are the red gene banks of the party and the country". Xi Jinping wrapped up his tour of Henan on September 18, by convening a meeting with top provincial officials. He told the assembled cadres that “The international situation remains challenging and complex, and our country’s development is facing new risks and challenges.” Assuring them it would all be alright as long as they stick to the Party’s plan, he said “We must manage our own affairs well.” In his speech Xi Jinping put the “main focus” on developing a high-quality manufacturing sector; constructing the Belt and Road; Implementing the rural revitalization strategy; Attaching great important to environmental protection; Ensuring the people’s well-being; and promoting Chinese culture. He also urged officials to carry on with the Party study campaign launched at the end of May.
