CHINA-INTERNAL: PLA PROMOTIONS

China yesterday (July 21) announced the promotion of a number of officers to the rank of Major General and above. Preference was given to younger officers with experience of the Sino-Vietnam conflict of 1979 and MOOTW (Military Operations Other Than War). Four of those promoted as full Generals are in the Central Military Commissio (CMC). Of special interest are the promotions of : Xu Yong, Commander of the Tibet Military District, to the rank of Lt. General and of Xi Guoxin, Political Commissar of the Tibet Military District, also to the rank of Lt. General.
