CHINA-TAIWAN: TAIWAN DEPORTS CHINESE CITIZEN FOR "ILLEGAL" ACTIVITIES

Taiwan on 8 October deported a Chinese tourist, Li Shaodong, for engaging in “criminal activities” for damaging a “Lennon Wall” that was put up in support of Hong Kong’s democracy movement.

(Comment:  Hong Kong prodemocracy activists have put up Lennon Walls, covered with colorful sticky notes, posters and slogans, across the city, and they have been set up in Taiwan too — mostly at university campuses. There has been widespread support in Taiwan for the unprecedented protests that have shaken semi-autonomous Hong Kong for four months, but Beijing supporters have targeted rallies and installations backing the movement. Taiwan's move is likely to irk Beijing.)
