CHINA-PAKISTAN: PAKISTAN USING CHINESE MISSILES IN KASHMIR

An official Chinese media report said that Pakistan Air Force (PAF) is understood to be "using the 295 FN-16 portable air-defense missiles to strengthen its low-altitude air defense in Kashmir, where India has begun deploying advanced apache helicopters". It said another purchase that went unnoticed was 60 CM-400AKG supersonic air-to-ground missiles being used by the JF-17s. It added the weapon, which has been developed by China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation, is more like a SY-400 guided rocket shell launched from the air than a conventional air-to-ground missile. Another report (Quwa - October 3) revealed that the PAF is configuring the JF-17 to carry the China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation (CASIC) C-802 anti-ship missile (AShM) and Global Industrial & Defence Solutions (GIDS) Range Extension Kit (REK) precision-guided bomb (PGB) suite for MK-80-series general purpose bombs (GPB).The People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF)’s own air-to-surface weapons include YJ-83 and KD-88 for subsonic cruise, and YJ-91 series for supersonic ramjet engines. The Chinese military does not have similar single-stage rocket-powered missiles in its arsenal. It said, "limited by its economic power, Pakistan's navy is much smaller than India's aggressive navy. Maintaining Pakistan's naval power and counterbalancing India's navy depends more on its powerful air force".
