CHINA-HONGKONG: TAIWAN HELPING STUDENTS LEAVE HONGKONG

The Apple Daily reported (November 14) that Taiwanese students are being helped by their government to return to Taiwan. The students, some of whom were interviewed, said they apprehend that Hongkong Police will enter campuses and beat and arrest students. Other reports revealed that as of early November, well over 3,000 protesters have been arrested, and hundreds of people have been charged with “rioting,” which carries a penalty of up to ten years imprisonment. As many as one-third of those arrested are minors.
