CHINA-EU: EU AWARDS JAILED UYGHUR DISSIDENT SCHOLAR

Jewher Ilham, daughter of jailed Uighur intellectual Ilham Tohti, received the European Parliament’s top Sakharov Prize prize on his behalf on December 18, saying she did not even know if he was still alive. She hoped the award of the Sakharov Prize would help her father, sentenced to life imprisonment in 2014 for “separatism”.
