A study by China's Fudan University forecasting a decisive win for President Tsai Ing-wen in
Taiwan’s election on Saturday
was been deleted from its website, hours after it was released. The study concluded that the independence-leaning Democratic Progressive Party, would garner nearly 60 per cent of the vote to defeat her Tsai Ing-wen's two Beijing-friendly rivals and be re-elected for a second term. The study was the result of more than a year of research by a team led by Tang Shiping, Professor at the School of International Relations and Public Affairs at Fudan University in Shanghai. The centre said it wanted to release the forecast just ahead of the election to allow people to compare it with the outcome. But hours after the study was posted, it was taken down from the university’s website. The centre and Prof Tang Shiping did not return calls seeking comment.
