CHINA-PLA: A PLARF COMMANDER SAYS PLA ENTERING NEW ESCALATED PHASE OF TRAINING

PLARF Major General Xue Jinfeng wrote in the PLA Daily (January 22) about the military training and sharpening of the battlefield in the background of Xi Jinping’s directive at the beginning of the year to train more and in harsh conditions. Xue Jinfeng asserted that confrontational training in real combat conditions has become 'a new normal' for the PLA and that PLA’s Red vs Blue training is entering a new realm of scaled-up phase. He said confrontation training helps the PLA to study the opponents, deepen the use of warfare training methods, and test and sharpen the quality of troops for future actual battlefield confrontation. He conceded there are many gaps in PLA’s current system of combat training. The Blue Army standards don’t match with the real enemy’s capabilities. But the ongoing series of reforms are leading the PLA in the right direction. The Major General emphasised that the PLA should improve the standards of the Blue army and this would help the PLA get real combat experience and make it battle-ready.
