CHINA-HEALTH CRISIS: BEIJING CLOSES SCHOOLS

The State Council General Office has extended the holidays for schools and universities till February 2, because of the Coronavirus.

As of January 29 evening, China’s patient count rose to 6,080. The death toll reached 132. Tibet reported a suspected case of the disease, which if confirmed would be its first and would mean the coronavirus has spread to every one of China’s provincial-level regions.

Beijing health officials warned that second-generation cases of coronavirus are emerging in China's capital, meaning the disease is spreading there, according to the Beijing Municipal Government Information Office. While most cases in the city were still imported, multiple clusters have been identified, and some cases appeared to have been transmitted within Beijing. There were also asymptomatic cases, meaning people may not realize they are carrying and spreading the virus.
