CHINA-INTERNAL: ANTI-CORRUPTION

In a statement issued on July 31, the CCP CC's Central Discipline Inspection Commission (CDIC) said that a team of CDIC officials had arrived in Shanghai and would be there till the end of September to 'promote party discipline and clean government'. The officials will also visit Heilongjiang province.

The CDIC website disclosed that CDIC inspectors are in Tibet and will be in the Autonomous Region for two months in China’s second round of corruption sweeps this year. The inspectors will also travel to Guangxi, Qinghai, Zhejiang, Hebei, Shaanxi, Heilongjiang, Sichuan and Jiangsu. Inspection team leader Ye Dongsong said the team would look into any conduct of irregularities, including abuse of power, bribery and “depraved behaviours” and would pay special attention to officials who persisted in corrupt practices after the anti-graft campaign started, were unpopular, or held important positions and were likely to be promoted.
