CHINA-ECONOMY: BUSINESS INDEXES REGISTER VERY SLOW GROWTH

Xinhua reported (March 26) that according to China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology by March 24, only 71.7% of small and medium-sized enterprises had resumed operations. Another  National Business Activity Index shows that as of March 25,  the economy was operating at 73.9% of pre-crisis levels. These figures have prompted estimates that the economy is running at less than three-fourths normal levels and that if the economy doesn’t get rebooted quickly, the damage will be intense and long-lasting.
