CHINA-ECONOMY: FORMER CHONGQING MAYOR SAYS CORONAVIRUS COULD BE "ONCE IN A CENTURY" OPPORTUNITY FOR CHINA

Writing in the Chinese publication 'First Financial Daily', (March 27) the former Mayor of Chongqing Huang Qifan wrote that, the global virus outbreak could be a “once in a century” opportunity for Chinese economy. He argued that given the stimulus policies rolled out by different countries and given that China is the only country that is able to resume production and has a rather complete cluster of industries, he expects more money around the world will flow into Chinese manufacturing. This will help China further complete its own supply chain and build up its financial market.

(Comment: Huang Qifan is currently Chairman of the Industrial Transformation Advisory Committee of Tsinghua Internet Industry Research Institute.)
